FERDY'S STORY

My name is Duncan and I am a German Shepherd rescue owner. I worked with German Shepherds for the the Military for over four years.
My German Shepherd dog, Ferdinand, who was two years old when I rescued him had been fairly traumatised in his six months with the Military. He responded at first to training and was due to be a Military police dog but became very miserable and withdrawn, and was finally rejected being classed as unfit for kennel life.
In a fairly short time of rescuing Ferdy and after giving him the love and respect these loyal, faithful and loving dogs deserve, he became a well adjusted loving member of the family. Ferdy is now nine and is great with my family and my fiance. They are very fond of each other. He is a great guard dog in the home but is absolutely fine with anyone entering my house to visit me.
A German Shepherd needs a healthy diet. Time must be spent exercising, grooming and bonding with him. A newly rescued German Shepherd dog may also benefit from socialising at training classes. German Shepherds make excellent family pets. However, it is not always wise to introduce an older dog into a family with very young children.
This said, a rescued German Shepherd dog will repay you ten-fold with their love and loyalty.
