"Adoring eyes that say so much, paws that have the gentle touch

A tail to wag that all is well, and far more love than words can tell"

FACT: The Staffordshire Bull Terrier is extremely misunderstood as he is often confused with the more aggressive American Pit Bull Terrier.  The Staffie is a completely different breed which is very affectionate and is not naturally aggressive.

FACT: The Staffie is renowned for his friendship and devotion to humans.  He is exceptionally good with children, earning him the well deserved nickname of ‘nanny dog.’  There is probably no breed that is more loving with his family than the Staffordshire Bull Terrier.

STAFFORDSHIRE BULL TERRIERS

The Staffordshire Bull Terrier is full of personality.  He has a happy go lucky nature and is intelligent, loyal, energetic and courageous.  All our Staffies have their own personality traits. Some are lively, some are placid; strong willed or sweet natured; serious or playful; shy or sociable.  The one thing they all have in common is that they are desperate to be loved.  Please see our BOYS and GIRLS pages for further details about our wonderful Staffies.

Staffies are people-loving dogs and thrive in the family environment.  They are never happier than when they are joining in with family activities – car rides, walks, romping on the beach, playing in the garden, even sitting on your lap watching TV in the evening!  Their compact size, and tolerance and affection towards children make them ideal family pets.

Staffies are very strong and may have a tendency to pull on the lead and walk in front due to their instinct to protect their beloved family.  However, no breed will try harder to do as you ask once they understand what is required of them.  Staffies are eager to please and are very easily trained.  They love a challenge and variety and many are successful in Agility, Flyball and Competitive Obedience.

The Staffie is not the dog for everyone.  He needs a confident owner and obedience training is essential.  Staffies need attention and stimulation and are definitely not suited to being left alone for very long.  Every Staffie is different.  Many Staffies enjoy the company of other dogs and will live very happily with other pets in the household but some will react if challenged by another dog, particularly outside the family.  Therefore this breed should always be on a collar and lead when in a public place.

Life is never dull with a Staffie around!  He’ll fill your days with fun and will be your best friend and faithful companion.  If you are looking for a trustworthy dog who will give you a lifetime of love and devotion, then look no further than the fantastic Staffordshire Bull Terrier.
