Hi All,

Just a quick email from us at our new home!   We are both settling in well and enjoying our new lifestyle - we've even sent you some photo's that our new Mum and Dad took when we were still for more than 5 seconds!

We went to Burghley Vets on Thursday and were both very brave whilst they gave us our first vaccinations and the vet, Michelle, gave us a clean bill of health.

We love our daily hours walk around Stamford and went to Rutland Water last Sunday. It snowed! Mum and Dad took 2 days off this week to be with us and we were due to go to the seaside today before it started raining, never mind, perhaps tomorrow will be nice enough!

Thank you for taking such good care of us, we hope you like the pictures! Be in touch soon!

Lots of love   Rocky & Sandy     xx         xx

Sheena looking relaxed and happy, enjoying her new home

Happy Easter to you all,

Just thought I would send you an email to let you know that Kimmy has settled really well, he is a SUPER STAR!

I have attached a photo that we took yesterday of Kimmy enjoying the snow.

Yours

Penny Wright

Gyll

Just a short one to say I am settling in OK and to thank you all for looking after me. I had a bath and now just relaxing.

Will see you all soon.

Molly

Dear Gyll

Just to let you know Bobby has settled in really well and the cat we thought wouldn't get on with him is his new best mate.  So all is well.  The pics were taken yesterday after his second visit to the groomers.

Hope all is well with you, keep up the good work.

All best wishes, John & Christine Dobson

Dear Gyll and the team

I thought I'd share some pictures of our beautiful new dog Cleo we adopted from you before Christmas.  As you can see she has settled in extremely well and made herself very comfortable!  She is now best friends with our other Three Counties dog, Joey.  We are all off to Wales in March for Cleo's first trip to the beach!

Thanks for everything

Chloe, Simon, Cleo and Joey

As discussed with Gyll here is a photo of Gemma and Gwen at Christmas. We have had Gemma for 21 months now and she is just wonderful.   She is a very well behaved dog - except when she encounters any man in a high vis jacket.   Who knows what she had to endure before Gyll took her in. She loves Gwen and responds every time that Gwen barks for attention.

Thanks to Gyll for saving her - and for letting us look after her.

Hi Gyll

Just to let you know that Jasper is doing well.  I have attached a photo of Jasper and Bailey.

Kind Regards

Dear Gyll

best wishes for a very happy christmas to all at Three Counties Dog Rescue - Syd (aka Freddie) has settled so well . He is such a joy to have as part of the family and is such a good companion. He loves to be with people at all times which is easy to do in our busy household, he also loves being in the car and comes with us were ever we go. He is looking forward to Christmas and have his own stocking filled with 101 squeeky toys. Thank you again

best wishes

Dear Gyll,
Today we have had Sasha for a whole year - we are all very happy together and  Sasha has fitted in really well.  She is very well behaved and loving, and loves chasing ducks and walks (or runs!) on the beach.  Here is a picture and as you can see she is doing really well. We all love her!
Best wishes to both you and Max,
Jon and Sarah and Harry and Charlotte Lydford

Dear Gyll,

I have asked my new dad If I could write and tell you how happy I am with my new family. I have settled in and I'm now enjoying life. I have Copper (Mr Grumpy) to run around with and to cuddle when I need to. We go out every day with dad for a long walk and run round a huge field near our home. We get to meet loads of new friends there and play for ages. I am getting used to going in the car, I love it but get a bit sick sometimes. I have sent photo's of me and Copper in the field for you to keep.

My dad would like to say something....  We did not think that we could ever replace our old Lab Max, however Belle has turned out to be a wonderful companion and has worked her way into our hearts so much that we could never think of being without her. She is growing into a beautiful dog and everyone she meets is impressed. She has so much love to give and has helped Copper to regain his zest for life (he missed Max so much). We can't thank you enough for letting Belle come to us. She has gained weight and is doing well. We will send more photos as she matures.

Regards  Belle Orme

After losing my wonderful labrador Jasper, age 13, myself and my family were devastated. I had him since I was a little girl and we were inseparable. All my memories of growing up were shared with my black labrador, I couldn't ever imagine him not being there.  A huge part of our family was now missing. Our other dog Nelson, a very charismatic retired hunt Bassett Hound was desperately sad. He had lost his best friend and had stopped eating and become very depressed   I was coming to terms with losing Jasper, getting another dog was out of the question and I didn't want to know  Just a few days after losing Jasper, my parents saw the appeal for a home for Charlie, a four year old Labrador who was nervous, but had the potential to be a fantastic family dog. On April bank holiday, my Mum surprised me and the two of us went to the Three Counties Rescue centre  Gyll sat us down in the reception area and gave us the background on Charlie. I was shocked by his story and the nervousness and upset thoughts disappeared from my head, I just wanted to see him. When he arrived, Charlie came into the room cowering, with his tail between his legs. I was so used to seeing my Labrador Jasper bounding in and wagging his tail, I was shocked by what I saw. He walked over to me looking at me with his big brown eyes that reminded me so much of someone else's. Gyll gave me a treat to give to Charlie. Charlie is extremely obedient and he sat beside me and gave me his paw. My heart melted. I knew from that moment I had to take Charlie home. The half an hour I spent with Charlie in that reception area, playing with his beloved ball, was the happiest I had felt since I lost Jasper.  The true test came when Charlie met Nelson   6 months down the line and you rarely see one without the other, and Nelson quickly got his appetite back! I am sending this email to say a huge thank you in helping us with Charlie. He is a fantastic dog and we have also become inseparable. Focusing all our energy on ensuring Charlie settled in well helped us deal with the sadness of losing Jasper. I will never forget Jasper and Charlie often does things to remind me about him, but these reminders make me happy we had such an amazing dog, not sad about the fact that we lost him.
On behalf of myself and my family, thank you!!
 Yours, Megan Overend

Hi Gyll

Since Toby doesn't want to go into kennels, he came to the Dordogne with us.  Five hotels we used on the journey made him very welcome and he had a good run around with some of the local dogs at the cottage where we stayed for two weeks.  In the picture in Bergerac he just has the largest nose.  The Pyla sand dune he running up is the largest in Europe.  He also brought back a few illegal immigrants but they have nearly all expired now.  He is away to Ireland with us next month.

All the best

Alan Baker

Hi Gyll,

I thought you'd like a update on how Jake is doing. In one of the photo's he's fast a sleep, having a cuddle with my daughter. He's full of mischief and has a wonderful personality, he's loving, loyal and very cheeky, and extremely spoilt!  He's still food mad and will do anything for chicken. He gets on fantastic with our American Cocker spaniel Buster, and he loves the cat, and she loves him. They all sleep together at night, except when Jake is sneaking upstairs! I would like to thank you, he's a wonderful dog and he makes us all laugh at least once a day, he's a real comedian!

Regards
Adie

Dear Gyll and team,

I thought I would send you a photo of our three reprobates, two of which we adopted from yourself. I don't know what we would do without them. Fudge our new recruit keeps the other busy, playing with Hamish and annoying Tilly. Tilly, our dalmation. was of course our first from you and she has grown into a real daddy's girl, she never leaves my husbands side when he is at home. Hamish  the constantly dirty westie is mine, and Fudge is my daughters responsibility. I wouldn't mind but I only went to Sainsburys for a loaf when I bumped into you, two days later I had a puppy. He is of course Rupert from your puppy pages, but he became Fudge, we still cant remember why! Anyway should the occasion arise again, you will be my first port of call, but three's enough for now.

See you soon The Hylands

Nigel Michelson re-homed Susie, a black Labrador:

"Whilst recovering from the loss of my retriever, Pip, I noticed an advert of Three Counties in the Stamford Mercury. What attracted my attention was that all the dogs available, in addition to a description of their breed and ages, had been given names. I phoned up, and Gyll Mauchline, Head of Three Counties, told me that I could call over to their Kennels in Bourne.

"That was where I first met Susie, a 6 year old black Labrador . She had been kept outside in a dog run all her life, and then abandoned by the owner. Her first action was to raise a paw for 'hand shaking' - this was an instant affection winner for me, and my mind was made up!

"Susie has been an excellent companion - we go for long walks each day, and Susie gets to enjoy her favourite pastime, which is excavating old rabbit burrows - she'd probably run a mile if she ever came face-to-face with a live occupant! Susie is fantastic company, especially as I work from home.

"I can't recommend Three Counties and Gyll and Max Mauchline highly enough! Susie came to me having been spayed, inoculated, and micro-chipped.

Dear Gyll,

Toby (or as you knew him Ronnie) has been travelling around since he joined us in December.  New Forest, Suffolk Coast, Manchester, Beverley and lately North Devon.  He loves walks in the countryside and forests, chases rabbits and squirrels, even up trees, and is much loved by all our friends and most of their dogs too.  The dogs on the farm in Devon were waiting for him to come out to play each day.  As you suggested he can be off like quick silver but has learnt to return on a call and will walk calmly off the lead if we insist.  He is certainly the fastest dog around here but makes friends easily when off the lead.  We are planning on a visit with him to Guernsey soon and as he has his passport we may be off to France this summer.

Tina from Oakham rehomed Satin:

"Hi Gyll, just thought we would let you know that Satin has turned out to be a superb dog with such love and such a cheeky streak now she has the confidence!. She is into everything, she often plays in the fields with Elsa, and they have a whale of a time.   S he is loved by us all and we would never be without her. Thank you so much."

Bill and Sheena emailed this to the website:

Delighted to tell you that Gemma was chosen as best Cross breed at the Old Somerby Fun Dog Show on Sunday 25th June.   She lined up in a group of nine dogs and impressed the judge who described her as a very fine dog.   She is coming out of herself now and gaining confidence.   She has found her voice and when Gwen barks Gemma responds!

I wish to express my thanks to both Marian and Gyll for the care and consideration when taking the homeless puppy that my son found wandering along a road containing one house, Jackson (puppy) was alone and terrified, muddy and with a small amount of blood on his nose.

My son brought him home after two days of taking Jackson to his friend, worried that he couldn't bring him home as we had a cat and a dog already. We made him a little section up in the utility room with our little dog's bed and after only a few days of crying as he was alone he was happy in his own little place. We fell in love with Jackson instantly and so did our little dog eventually but the cat was not happy.

As I  assume but can't see any other reason for him being out there alone, Jackson was terrified of going out, even in the garden, his first walk resulted in him being carried whilst my other dog was walking along happily. As time progressed he gained confidence but if any loud noise presented itself Jackson ran right next to our other dog's side and stayed there until the noise went.

Unfortunately we could not keep him mostly due to my breathing problems and Gyll kindly offered to take him and asked Marian to collect him to take him to a new foster home.

I feel so happy Jackson is the hands of Three Counties . It is most obvious by the rules and guidelines for the re-homing, medical and other care provided,  all involved provide unlimited love for every single animal.
